Malaysia - finally!

This photo is supposed to go at the end! but can not make it work!!! so just pretend! It is in front of the petronas towers at nighttime!

So now armed with the right photos here is Malaysia! First off we started in Kuala Lumpur unfortunately I had not bought my camera by this stage so don’t have any photos! But after this we moved up to Penang, known for its beaches, however it rained! But we got to check out the small town of Penang, and took a cyclo ride around town at nighttime, this is Lydia with the cyclo driver, cute funny little old man!

We went up the hill in Penang and held the snake, and met up with Carla and Ben, who took me to the toy museum, unfortunately most of it was behind glass, but I took this photo specially of Jaja bink coz he was my favourite! Who Me?....

Cameron Highlands was where we headed next, however we did not prepare for the weather so turned up in singlets and jandals very nearly froze completely! It was a case of does the guesthouse have a heater!? not a/c! Cameron Highlands in Malaysia is absolutely stunning, we walked down to the botnical gardens and this is a few snaps from there, it was so nice to be surrounded by hills and greenness again that we just couldnt stop snapping!

On the way back I saw this billboard which I thought was rather amusing... avoid promiscuity, well that’s putting it out there...

We took a tour of Cameron Highlands in a van, and stopped at a butterfly farm, which also housed snakes, rhino beetles, scorpions and lots of other weird and gross stuff! but had beautiful butterfly’s so that was an awesome place to visit plus they had a whole room full of cacti! WOW

Next we shot up to the tea plantations for which Cameron Highlands is famous for, and arrived at the ‘Boh’ tea factory! Its just huge huge rolling hills full of tea trees, and then we got to walk through the factory and see the processing machines and smell the amazing freshly ground tea smell!

On the way back we bumped into some workers from the tea fields and were told that they were all Indonesian labour brought in because the pay is too low for Malaysians, around 20c a kilogram of tea leaves......

So we thought we would give them a hand!... well its actually rather posed but every little bit helps right?
Next stop, Rose gardens... full of crazy wee statues of snow white and the seven dwarfs and the old lady that lived in a shoe, and other sorts of stuff like that, plus another cacti garden! they are definitely my fav plant!

One in the same really?!

And one last shot of the beautiful tea plantations, before back to Kuala Lumpur, where we did some super cheap rip-off brand shopping at the local market and bumped into maybe the coolest set of people I’ve met in a while, they were the tri-forces kapa haka group, so airforce, navy and army boys from NZ, massive maori dudes with korus tattooed on their bodies, so we tagged along with these guys for the day to a water park, back for a feed of kai! and then off to the reggae bar later that night for a fantastic night out and a great end to our holiday!

Unfortunately we missed their kapa haka performance but am hopefully getting it sent to us! So last snap in Malaysia at nighttime in front of the petronas towers, they were stunningly designed and just as beautiful in the day, wish we had of gotten some better snaps!

So Malaysia, def a place to go amazing sights and diversity, heaps of cultures mixing, Chinese, Indian and of course Malay so food is excellent and theres always something to do! Plus transport is super easy, busses usually late but very comfortable, and train and monorail super easy! Check it out!
