Weddings and trips...

Jom reap Sua,

This is me all dressed up for a wedding, not quite right but I think I look pretty Khmer! and my work commented that I looked like the bride! Although brides definately do not look like that! Weddings here are so different! We sat in a corner eating so much food that just kept being brought to us! then everyone gets up and dances and then they bride and groom are married!

This is me at the wedding I'm sitting with all the men from my work! It was about now I wished there were a few more females at work! but never mind had a blast all the same, everyonw offered me rice wine, which is traditionally a man's drink but I was curious to try it! Tastes like vinegar and is about 40% alchohol, they shoot it in over sized shot glasses and while not the worst thing I've ever had not great!

All the men drink it by the bottleful and get rather drunk! Was then quite worried about my driver driving me home, but had no other way and he seemed to have drunk the least out of everyone but still! I made it thankfully!

Food included, cow intestine and prahoc, which is a fermented fish paste mixed into old cheese, its a true cambodian delicacy, it looks gray and smells like fermented fish cheese though! tastes just as good, and then I wonder why the next day I'm sick! everyone tries to put it down to the wine, but i had not even one full shot!

The plastic bottles you can see on the table those are the wine bottles! the wine ferments for 6 months before being drunk, really quite an experience! Didn't manage to grab any dancing photos though sorry! Probably a good thing as i look something like a cross between a water buffalo and a dead tree so not entertaining! I keep trying to tell people I'm too shy to dance and they laugh outrageously at me!

The morning after the wedding I came to PP on a moto! 4 and a half hours in the blistering heat! on the way though took this photo of Svay Rieng University, it has only been open since 2005 and is a beautiful modern building! Really good for the people because now they don't have to leave SR and go to PP for uni.

Hello! this is definaetly the way to travel, so long as its for a time less than 1 hour! the wind cools you down and you get to see everything! Moto's are such a blast...

This is just a little town called Svay Chrum where Michael one of the peace corps volunteers lives its much smaller than SR and a nice little place!
