My house and Miss Sorin (Tong)

On Monday I moved to Svay Rieng, the trip took longer than expected as there was a lot of traffic heading back to the city after the elections. I arrived in the afternoon and settled into my house, had my work collegues over and then went shopping for a few household items and some food. Enjoyed a nice dinner out with Cee and Sue, then they stayed overnight.

Meet Tong, she works in the accounting department of REDA and speaks a little English, we both seem to be the same kind of person and always are laughing and giggling together shes very curious about NZ and is basically the only female friend I have here!

Making friends here is quite difficult as most of the women don't or can't speak English, the children are too shy and I have learnt it's not really so appropriate for me to be friends with the males here. This makes for a few lonely times!

This is my house, it is large and grand with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, has power and cable tv, plus a fridge and a stove! Heaps of space outside as well! So room for lots of visitors (hint hint!)

This is my lounge, with the moto inside because it sleeps inside at night! This photo was taken at night and I have not really unpacked anything so does not yet look like my home, but soon will! If I get some time in and around my crazy work hours 6.30-5.30!

This is my bedroom and my cat named 'dtom roo-it' or policeman in English! He's very lovely and follows me around everywhere even though I dont usually let him sit on the bed! He also eats my spiders for me, very handy accessory, finding food for a cat down here is hard, it doesnt come in nice little tins like NZ. Usually fish smelling rice will do, but because I am not Khgmer and dont eat fish for breakfast lunch and dinner feeding dtom roo-it is a bit of a mission so will take down some nicely packaged cat food from PP, and he will be the envy of all the other cats in the neighbourhood!

And my bedroom from the other direction, with my cat and my tweety, my two most important men in Cambodia!
